FORTRESS wins Student Jury Award at Max Ophüls - written on 23.01.2012
The family drama FORTRESS is this year’s winner of the Student Jury Award at the renowned Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in Saarbrücken. A jury of students selects the winner from all feature films running in competition. Excerpt from the jury’s statement:
„[…] In FORTRESS, director Kirsi Marie Liimatainen succeeds in keeping the balance between a story about violence and a story about young love: A film which moved our jury deeply. It documents with great resonance and honesty the damage domestic violence can cause in a family. […] Elisa Essig’s acting impressed us greatly; she manages to convey Johanna’s inner conflict and her enormous affliction without many words. […] FORTRESS deals with a controversial topic in a way that really stuck with us and made us think.“
